Consultation

Certain archives have special consultation clauses

  • CLASS A: Free consultation

Access is granted to the researcher by the director of CEDOM without any restrictions.

  • CLASS B: CEDOM Consultation Conditions

B1: Access is granted without restrictions, except for documents dating after the year 1950.

B2: Access is granted without restrictions, except for documents younger than 75 years.

This is done to respect the privacy of living or recently deceased Freemasons and their families.

  • CLASS C: Special consultation conditions by third parties

Access is granted to the researcher by the director of CEDOM, subject to the prior written authorization of the depositor. This is done to respect the privacy of living or recently deceased Freemasons and their families.

In the case of an archive Class C, the researcher submits two documents to the director of CEDOM. In the first document, the researcher introduces themselves. In the second document, they specify which documents they wish to consult and for what reasons. The director of CEDOM then seeks permission from the depositor. It is the depositor who decides on access to the archives.

Do you have an archive?

To take care of Masonic archives is the core business of Cedom.

We take archives on deposit from Masonic associations. This is achieved through a long-term loan. The association remains the owner of its archives and it can rely on professional preservation. If necessary, Cedom will clean, inventory, and re-package the archives at its own expense. Preservation and consultation are accomplished according to the wishes of the association.

Cedom is here for you!

How do I preserve my archive?

Masonic associations can rely on Cedom to advise them on protecting and preserving their archives.

To this end, we also provide a manual, including a simple checklist, entitled “Help! I have an archive”. The people of Cedom also gladly come on-site to help evaluate the condition of the archives.

Cedom is here to help!
